The North Texas VA Health Care System is seeking a Physician Assistant to work with a multidisciplinary team position on the 40 bed Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Program (SARRTP). The Addiction Team includes Psychiatrist, an Internal Medicine Physician, Psychologists, Social Workers, Addiction Therapists, Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Nursing Assistants and Health Technicians. The position involves conducting a detailed comprehensive history and physical examination fo! r veterans admitted to SARRTP. During the veterans stay on SAR! RTP the Physician Assistant manages their psychiatric and medical issues with consultation with Attending Psychiatrist and Internist. In collaboration with the treatment team the Physician Assistant plays a key role in discharge planning.
The incumbent should be able to analyze patient care problems and formulate treatment plans tailored to the individual needs of the patient. Also, be able to demonstrate a systematic body of knowledge to the diagnosis and treatment of actual or potential health care problems, including syntheses of data, and the use of complex skills and interventions.
