Summary

The Golf Course Operator, under supervision of the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent or foreman, performs work involving the use of large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks and other maintenance and mowing equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following:

  • Mows fairways and roughs with gang units.
  • Operates turf vac, skip-loader, fairway and rough aerifier and boom sprayer for weeds in fairways and rough (equipment to be operated is not limited by the above list)
  • May operate smaller equipment as directed by his/her supervisor(s).
  • Ensures that the equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily, and reports equipment problems or failures to equipment supervisor immediately.
  • Provides basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by the equipment supervisor or assistant superintendent and for returning equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility.
  • Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor(s).

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience

  • Knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.


Language Skills

Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to interpret documents and reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems and situations reasonably.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Background clearance through the Paskenta Gaming Commission. Valid driver’s license.


Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to use fingers, hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and/or occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
