This is a remote position.
You must be willing to relocate or have a primary work site in the state of California, to be considered for this position.
Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
Responsible for managing the process for negotiating and evaluating payor contracts with health plans, medical groups, independent practice associations (IPA), hospitals/health care systems, government programs and other payors, as assigned. Will coordinate the collaboration with several departments including, compliance, clinical operations and leadership, decision support, patient finance services and other leaders as it relates to contract language and implementation. Serves as primary organizational contact during contract negotiations and manages relationship with external stakeholders. Contract Manager will lead the process to resolve contract related issues in a timely manner. Responsible for modeling and analyzing cost and utilization data to develop rate proposals. Should possess a thorough understanding of contractual provisions, related to both financial and operational issues, and have the ability to present contractual language recommendations to CHLA leader. Should be able to provide guidance to Contract Specialist.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
Four years’ experience in healthcare contract negotiation. Must have prior hospital contracting experience. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and written, with external/internal clients. Must be able to prioritize workload and function in a deadline-driven environment; plan, organize, and coordinate appropriate workload in conjunction with other team members. Strong analytical/deductive, mathematical analysis and problem solving skills. Proficient in data manipulation and spreadsheet development. Efficient in using Microsoft Office suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Prior negotiation experience and proven negotiation skills. Ability to interpret contractual language and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with various reimbursement methodologies, including per diems, case rates, and stop-loss. Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, MHA) preferred.
Pay Scale Information: USD $64,688.00 - USD $116,563.20
