I! nternal Medicine/Geriatrician Physician for the Dallas Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) Program.

DUTIES:
VA North Texas,
Dallas VA Medical Center is recruiting for a full time staff physician for an
active Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) Unit which treats approximately 400-450 in home patients
per year. The candidate will be responsible for the overall medical care
provided to the HBPC team. The incumbent must work effectively with an
interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals and be able to identify
medical problems and formulate appropriate management. He/She must make home
visits to assigned HBPC patients. In addition the candidate! must collaborate
with HBPC physician assistants for care of patients. Candidates should have the
ability to provide effective care to patient; i.e. assesses, plans, implements,
documents, and evaluate patient care. Incumbent serves as Primary Care Provider for HBPC team.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
·

U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is
not possible to recruit qualified citizens)

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting
from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

·

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or
surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the
District of Columbia.

·

Must be
board certified or eligible.

Preferred
Experience

:

1.
Background in Internal Medicine and/or Geriatrics.

2. Board!
certification in Geriatrics.

3.
Experience and/or int! erest in Home Based Primary Care.

Physical Requirements:

EDUCATION:
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree
resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The
degree must have been obtained from one of the schools a! pproved by the
Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was

completed. Approved schools are:
(1) Schools of medicine holding
regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical
Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine
approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the
degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign
schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth
(i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or
unrestricted licensure.

FOREIGN EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
To receive credit for education
completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has
been submitted to a private organization that specialized in interpretation of
foreign educational credentials and s! uch education has been deemed at least
equivalent to that gained in! conventional U.S. education programs.
